New Lawyers Need Training

Here’s an interesting article from the ABA website regarding the fact the law schools do a terrible job of training lawyers to practice the business end of law. Now, to be fair, med schools don’t train doctors how to manage their books, judge profit or, God forbid, bill insurance companies. But saying that you’re as efficient as a medical back office is an awfully low standard. Lawyers have got to understand how to run a business. They need to know who their profitable clients are. What their profitable practices are. And how to get more of both. Nothing in law school does this.
